Linda's Speech at Boulder City Republican Women's Celebration of Reagan's 100th birthday

On Thursday, February 17th, Linda and a couple of other city council candidates spoke for 2 minutes a piece at the Reagan 100th birthday celebration. Her speech is below:

"My name is Linda Graham, candidate running for City Council. I am a caring individual, with common sense and a hard worth ethic. I have a wide breadth of political experience, serving 6 years on the East Peoria, Illinois, District 309 School Board.

While residing in Illinois, I had the privilege of being mentored by Congressman Bob Michel who served as minority leader during the George Bush, Sr. presidential administration. During this time I learned the rigors of campaign work.

During my tenure in Michigan, I served on the Wexford County Conservation District. I worked closely with the Department of Agriculture on agricultural issues that affected the gross national products of Michigan. We were responsible for the replanting of forest areas endangered by the logging industry and the well being of parts of Lake Michigan. We supervised a groundwater grant for Wexford County that insured the assess of water for Wexford County.

While residing in Santa Barbara I was a member of the Republican Central Committee and President of the Montecito Hope Ranch Republican Club.

I was asked to serve on the Goleta Water District Advisory Committee. We studied water problems in Santa Barbara County and water rates. By all three districts working together we were able to build a new water filtration system and water storage units.

While residing in Iowa, I served on the Hancock County Republican Central Committee. I was voted by my peers to serve as a delegate to the County Caucus and then as a State Delegate to represent the Iowa Republican Party.

As a member of the Boulder City Council, I will listen carefully to the citizens, as well as consider thoughtfully each item that is brought to the agenda for consideration.

In my opinion, the three issues that are most pressing at this time are the reduction of the 96 million dollar deficit, elimination of traffic congestion with the completion of the Hoover Dam Bypass and maintaining the quality of life of the citizens of Boulder City.

Today I am asking for your vote in the Primary Election on April 1st, 2011.
